Chandigarh: Punjab Personal Bus Transporter on Thursday claimed that they were on the verge of destruction because of the losses suffered during the Covid-19 pandemic and government anti-transporter policy.
In a press conference held at Chandigarh Press Club, Punjab Union members said if the necessary steps were not immediately taken, this important sector would disappear from the business scene without a trace.
The passenger transportation sector in Punjab is one of the leading income generating sectors and employs more than 1.25 Lakh personnel, they said.
Secretary Union Rajinder Singh Bajwa said the Punjab government has promised that the tax on the bus will be released until March 31, 2022, but nothing is done so far.
Whereas the New Transportation Minister Amrinder Singh King Garring has directed the department to confiscate and the Challan Bus that has not paid taxes to date.
Transporters accused that here also the government of the ruling Congress did not seize the bus leader buses even though they both showered without taxes.
Buses only from opposition leaders or operators related to them are targeted, allegations.
Bajwa said the state government stated taxes at the level of Rs 2.69 per liter of fuel and would not lose much in the case of neglect because it had produced rs 2.27 per liter more due to value added tax.
The bus operator also demands the elimination of total social security imposed on them and increases the exemption of tax payments in a month from four days to eight days to provide a free complexity and maintenance of vehicle maintenance every month.
They also demanded an extension of the amnesty scheme until March 31, 2022.
Personal transporter also believes that certain populist policies from the state government, such as free travel to female passengers on government buses, have also reached their business because almost no 20% occupancy in bus days this.
