Karachi: The head coach while Pakistan Saqlain Mushtaq on Wednesday said he would be fully responsible for the team’s performance after a sudden resignation from Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis just a few weeks before the T20 World Cup in the UAE.
The former Spinner Saqlain test, which is currently head coach at the center of the Pakistani cricket board in Lahore, has been named the temporary head coach with the former ABDUL RAZZAQ all-rounder test as his representative for the series of houses against New Zealand.
“The truth is, the current group of players we see in the national team or between standards is the best we have in this country.
And we have to move forward,” Saqlain said who had worked as a coach in England and also remained spinning – Turn consultants with various test teams including New Zealand, Britain and West Indies.
“I will take full responsibility whether the team does well or not.
I have previously worked with all members of the Pakistani team at this time.
As a coach, every task is a challenge,” he added.
Refusing to comment on the sudden resignation of Misbah and Waqar, Saqlain said he could only say that it was their personal decision.
“But what I will say is that someone said that they escaped from their very hard responsibility and such words should not be used for them,” Saqlain said who had played with Misbah and Waqar on the Pakistani team.
The promised 44-year-old Pakistan will play aggressive and positive cricket against New Zealand without fear of defeat.
“The upcoming series against New Zealand is very important to us in our preparation for the World Cup so we focus on it.” Asked why Indian cricket moved forward now and Cricket Pakistan returned, he said he would not talk about other countries.
“Yes, someone can always learn good things from other teams but I prefer to give examples of Pakistani legends than their Indian colleagues to improve our performance.” PCB is said to want to appoint a foreigner as a full-time coach before the T20 World Cup and also in talks with several candidates but if there is no consensus achieved, SAQLain is likely to continue with other coaches added to the national team.
