Women retain the lead in vaccination were more men

Prayagraj: Women’s beneficiaries have retained their lead in the third month in a row as far as vaccination is concerned covid.
The first week of November again witnessed the active participation of the beneficiary women to vaccination despite the festive season of Diwali and Chhath Puja.
Of 56 158 doses administered between November 1 and 7, a total of 29 698 women received a dose recipients, while the number of male counterparts are limited to 26 445.
In October, out of a total of 8,41,889 doses given, as much as 4.40, 094 doses were given to women, while 4,01,428 dose received by men.
However, vaccination failed to break the record in September, a total of 9,39,300 administered dose is given to eligible recipients in September, including 4,78,740 female and 4,60,002 male.
Health department officials also admit that the vaccination rate is lower in October compared with September.

district chief medical and supplemental immunization officer (DIO) Dr Teerath Lal told TOI, more than 61% of the targeted recipients of all age groups were given at least the first dose, while 19.66 percent of the targeted recipients are fully vaccinated until now.
“The department is now focusing on rural areas for vaccination campaigns to cover all eligible recipients of this month,” he added.
Dr Lal further added that they identify pockets in rural areas where vaccination is low and a special team will be sent to cover the eligible recipients.
More recently, a senior health official has interacted with a basic level of health workers, including ANMs, ASHA and nursing staff to improve vaccination in rural areas and also to find out the reasons behind the low vaccination in rural areas.
