Guwahati: Death of 12 Covid patients on Monday at the Medical Medical College Premier (GMCH) Hospital came as a blow to the State Health Department at the time of the pioneer in the state down to 2.01%.
Until recently, about three deaths on the average reported from the hospital in the capital, but a sudden increase in the number of health ministers Keshab Mahanta on her legs.
He rushed to hospital at 1:30 a.m.
“I came here to keep an eye on how the hospital functions.
Twelve patients have died.
We need to make some changes in management here.
Senior doctors are needed at night,” Manganta told reporters on Tuesday.
The minister carefully examined the functions of each department and emergency because there was no senior senior doctor at night at a recent government hospital.
Even when Manganta got rid of speculation the third wave had reached the country, he said preparations were in full swing to protect children from fresh surge.
“At GMCH we are preparing 300 beds for children.
Each district hospital is being discarded to handle the third possible wave,” Minister said.
The GMC administration said the oxygen saturation was low among patients and the lack of vaccination was the main reason for death in 24 hours.
The GMCH supervisor Dr.
Abhijit Sarma said some patients, who were accepted had a level of oxygen as low as 39% of where the chances of recovery were almost nil.
He said nine out of 12 deaths were critical cases in the ICU, while the other three received care in the ward.
“They die in 24 hours after entering.
Two died in an emergency.
None of the cases were vaccinated and the level of saturation was less than 90% on arrival at GMCH,” Sarma said.
He told Ti that these patients were taken to the GMCH at the last minute.
“Vaccination must be a top priority.
Anyone who has the most common symptoms such as fever, cough or headache, must immediately consult a doctor.
The second wave of Covid has not ended, “Sarma warns.
Some patients, who died at GMCH, came from Nagaon and Sonitpur districts, where the Covid situation was more worrying than Guwahati recently.
Covid fatality is up to 30 times reported in GMCH in one day during the second wave peak, but the death rate decreases dramatically.
GMCH Principal, Dr.
Achyut Baishya, said, “Most of the 12 patients were critical and which was why they underwent treatment in the ICU.
Death was not because of serious errors from our side,” he added.
The last 10 days data (from 19 to 28) shows the highest 2,171 positive cases reported from the Golaghat district, followed by 2,089 cases from Sonitpur and 1,687 cases from Kamrup (Metropolitan).
Even when the country’s front level fell to 2.01% on Monday, 42 deaths were reported during the day.
The left health official number was confused because one day death fell to June 26 on June 25.
