Moga: Three people were killed and forty other people were injured, nine of them seriously, in a collision between two buses on Jalan Moga-Amritsar in the Punjab district on Friday, police said.
Those who were killed and injured traveled with a minibus from the city of Zira to Chandigarh carrying a supporters of the congress who would attend the Navjot Singh Sidhu installation ceremony as the Head of the Punjab Congress.
The minibus collided with a state-owned Pepsu Roadways bus near Lohara Village, police said.
Deputy Moga Commissioner Sandeep Hans said the deceased had been identified as Virsa Singh, Vickey and Gurtej Singh.
Nine were seriously injured called hospitals in Ludhiana, police said.
“Sad to find out a bus accident in the food district where 3 Congress workers reportedly died & many people were injured.
Has directed DC hopefully to immediately provide full medical care for all that was injured and to send a report to the government,” Minister Amarinder Singh tweeted.
At Chandigarh, during the Sidhu installation ceremony, the Punjab Congress observed the silence of two minutes as a sign of respect for those who were killed in the accident.
