Silchar: The cadre owned by the rebel group which was banned by the National Liberation Army in DNLA) in Dima Asao was ceremonially handed over their arms in the Khepra area in the Maibang Sub-Division of the Dima Haggao district and returned to the mainstream on Saturday.
However, as expected, 309 cadres, as claimed by the ‘chairman’ of DNLA, did not appear to deactivate weapons in remote locations, namely 95 km from Haflong, the headquarters of Dima Melo.
46 cadres in uniforms, put their arms before North Cachar Hills Chief Executive Executive Debolal Gorlosa, ADGP (Special Branch) Hiren Chandra Nath, IGP (Law and Orders) Prepared Kedia, DC (Dima Haya) Paul Barua and SP (Dima Asao ) Jayant Singh.
Taking into his Twitter handle, Minister of Assam Minister Himanta Buswa Sarma wrote, “giving a boost for the peace process in Assam according to the vision of Adnniya PM Sri @Narendramodi & HM Sri @amitshah, Mushrang, C-in-C from #DNLA Overground today at Khepre, 95 km from Haflong, Dima Melo with 46 cadres, before Sri Debolal Garlosa, CEM & Other Officials.
“Cadres deposited a Rifle One M 16, three worth 47 and three .303 rifles before the authorities.
Those who surrendered including ‘chair of’ DNLA ITIS DIFEUS and ‘Commander-in-Chief’ of Sudhir Sorong’s clothing.
DNLA cadres met in Dautehaja, Langting, Mupa and Dhansiri Reserve Forest, before continuing to Khepre.
