Bengaluru: Karnataka on Friday won a vaccination milestone with 50% of the targeted population fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Of almost 4.9 crore people aged 18 years and above and identified as qualifying, almost 2.5 crore people have been given both doses.
“Karnataka is one of the states, together with Delhi, to achieve 50% coverage of the second dose.
The next effort is to cross the 90% milestone in the first dose coverage and ensure that everyone who meets the requirements is affixed to the two doses,” said Manohar Agnani, Secretary In addition, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Government of India.
The first dose coverage in Karnataka stands at 88%.
The second highest dose coverage was reported from the Urban District of Bengaluru at 77%, followed by Kodagu at 60% and BBMP at 59%.
Agnani told reporters that the state government must conduct a door-to-door campaign to see if anyone is not vaccinated or because of the second covid dose.
Engage with documents, religious leaders during the drive: Deprdrduring campaigns, health workers must explain the benefits of covid vaccination and bring household members to the nearest vaccination center.
On Thursday, Dr.
Arundhathi Chandrashekar, director of the mission, the National Health Mission, Karnataka, issued a circular to the district to run a campaign in November to reach every individual who qualified remains complete or partially.
The Ministry of Health has instructed the district level authorities to engage with leading doctors, religious leaders, sports personality and elected representatives during the campaign.

It is said that the awareness campaign must be done in crowded places such as the market area.
