Bathinda: With agricultural fires so far mostly limited to the Amritsar border district and Tarn Taran, Punjab on Thursday record a maximum of 72 cases of combustion of residues in the ongoing season.
Previously, a maximum of 64 arrears of propellers in a day were recorded on September 29.
With 72 cases of combustion on Thursday, the number of cases was recorded in 392 and crossed the cases recorded until 7 October 2019 when cases of burning mounts were recorded at 376 to October 7.
But by 2020, cases of burning plant residues were much higher at 1.702.
The first plant burning case was reported on September 16.
Of the total 392 cases, Amritsar only recorded 218, followed by neighboring districts Tarn Taran at 68.
