Chandigarh / Jalandhar: Leading, Shiroman Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday released a list of candidates for 64 assembly segments in Punjab for the election of the State Assembly scheduled for early next year.
There are no other political parties that announce the list of candidates to date.
Sad President Sukhbir Singh Badal has announced 22 candidates so far and 42 candidates remaining added on Monday.
Sukhbir, who is Lok Sabha MP from Ferozpur, will fight from the constituency of the old assembly, Jalalabad.
The Patron Party and former Chief Justice of Parkash Singh Badal were not on the list, but the party had not announced a candidate from the Lambi Assembly constituency from which Senior Badal sat MLA.
The Punjab assembly has 117 seats.
Sad to express his candidate, it threw cold water on expectations of the Bahujan Party Power generator who had demanded that several seats where their strong party had to be allocated to BSP.
While Sad has exchanged two seats with BSP after the original seat sharing formula was announced and BSP Jasbir’s State President Singh Garhi said that there would be no further exchange, sense Dal announced candidates in all other seats where BSP had quite a lot of presence.
It includes banga, adamam and Philaur where SAD already has three MLA.
The party has announced candidates in two other seats – Garhshankar and Chabbewal – which are said by BSP dissidents.
From this chair, the party has deployed the former Surinder Singh Bhullewal Rathhan and Sinh Singh Thandal.
After separating the bond with the old allies of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for controversial agricultural law, sed in June this year announced an alliance with BSP.
Before this, sad and BSP contested the 1996 Sabha Lok selection in the Alliance in Punjab.
This pact provides a pathetic 97 assembly segment and the remaining BSP is remaining 20.
Some must announce only 33 candidates now.
