AizAnM: Mizoram recorded 1,731 fresh Covid-19 cases, this was the highest surge, in the last 24 hours, making it a third-affected country in the country after Kerala and Maharashtra, said the Ministry of Health and family welfare on Tuesday.
The state is in fourth place in the number of active cases (15,140) as on Tuesday.
While the Mizoram daily front level was 18.53% as against the national average of 1.85%, the level of state recovery was the lowest in this country of 81.09% as on the national average of 97.7%.
The total infection in the state on Tuesday was 81,460 of which 66,904 people had recovered.
Meanwhile, Nodal State officials from the Integrated Disease Supervision Program (ISDP) Dr.
Pachuau Lalmalsawma on Tuesday that 90.30% of the samples were sent from Mizoram for the sequencing of the whole genome found a new variant.
“We sent 350 samples to the whole genome.” Lalmalsawma said.
He added that the Delta Plus variant was 60% more contagious than Delta, which was also found more than 50% more contagious than normal coronavirus.
At least 70 samples were sent owned by a new family of Delta variants known as “Delta Lineage”, being studied by experts and have not been named.
The normal Delta variant was found in 213 samples collected from Aizawl, Lunglei, Serchhip, Champhai and Clastic District, he said, added that a total of 510 samples sent from Mizoram were identified as new variants.
