Guwahati: Congress on Thursday asked the State Election Commission to elect Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), which was being carried out without elected representatives over the past three years, without further delay.
“GMC is a constitutional affiliate body for local independent governments.
The different state government department is GDD, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and even the commissioner of the State Election does not pay attention to elections and thus citizens are prepared from GMC services in the right way , “said the leader of the Congress and former Mayor of GMC Kushal Kumar Sharma at a press conference here.
