Shimla: Eight-story building collapsed in the Goda Chowki (Kachi Ghati) area in the Shimla Himachal Pradesh district on Thursday night.

The Minister of Development Urban Suresh Bhardwah visited the place to take stock situations and assess losses.
He has directed the district administration to provide immediate assistance to the affected family and is also directed to start an investigation to see the reasons that cause the collapse of the multi-floor building.
The source said that a vertical multi-storey building on a steep slope and sliding slopes because the green cover that lost quickly has made the city of Shimla vulnerable to natural disasters.
The 14 main areas of Shimla are located on the slope of an average of 35 to 70 degrees with a peak population density of 2,000 to 3,000 per hectare.
The majority of the regions in the planning area of ​​Shimla with large construction of buildings on the slopes without holding on the provisions of seismic building codes and earthquake resistance steps, are susceptible to hazards.
Locations like a cemetery, Sanjuli, Jiunu Colony, Chakkar, Katchi Ghati and Bharari are lower vulnerable to big accidents during the earthquake where the effects of the collapse of the building are below.
