Bengaluru: Karnataka stands second in this country in providing online medical consultation through the E-Sanjeevani portal managed by the central government, showing data with the press information bureau in October 4.
The service was launched a few weeks before the Pandemic Covid, and this has received the highest response in Andhra Pradesh where 42 Lakh consultations are recorded.
Karnataka has provided a second highest consultation at 24 lakh, while data shows Tamil Nadu (15.9 lakh), Uttar Pradesh (13.7 lakh) and Gujarat (4.8 lakh) followed the command.
National telecasting service initiatives under the Ministry of Health and the welfare of the United States, the aim is to provide health advice to people in their homes through application-based platforms.
So far has seen 1.3 Crore consultations throughout the country since it was launched in December 2019.
This service provides free video-based clinical consultation between a patient and a doctor.
What needs to be done to utilize this service is to download the E-Sanjeevani application on a smartphone and register.
To consult a doctor, patients must provide names, gender, age, address, cellphone number, e-mail ID, health records and dependency details.
This process includes registration, making tokens, queue management and audio-video consulting with doctors.
The Mohali branch of the Advanced Computing Development Center provides end to end technical assistance for portals including development, implementation, operation and training to health workers.
Spreading Awarenessr Arundhathi Chandrashekar, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Karnataka, told TII that the state government had encouraged Asha workers to introduce applications to the general public during the door-tod survey.
“Consultation is provided depending on the field of requirements.
A number of specialists are available,” he said.
Based on consultation, patients are given recipes for drugs they need to buy.
Another way to access the service is through the hub and speaking model, where staff at the health and health center are connected with specialists at the district hospital and medical college government.

While Kerala also offers services in the field of cardiology, psychiatry and cancer through online portals, they are not available at this time in Karnataka.
The average consultation time in Karnataka is one minute 53 seconds, data for the September show.
“The duration of consultation depends on internet connectivity and consultation itself.
The maximum consultation duration we have seen is four minutes,” the official said.
Chikkamagaluru sustained data from the State Health Department on October 7 showed Chikkamagaluru registered the most consultation at almost 16 lakh and was followed by Ballari (15.6 lakh) and bellagavi (13.6 lakh).
Bengaluru urban districts, including the BBMP area, have recorded less than one lakh consultation.
“In Metros like Bengaluru, more dependence in the private health sector and local clinic near the patient’s house,” said an official.
Health Minister K Sudhakar said: “E-Sanjeevani OPD, national telecasting services are an extraordinary platform that allows people to access the best of health care remotely.
There is always worries about technology adoption by ordinary people in the past, but Pandemic has accelerated adoption.
