Manali: The voter machine was flown to the spital valley from Lahaul on Friday when the Kaza Kaza highway was still blocked with snow between Gramphu and Kunzum Pass.
Lahaul-Spitial District Election Officer – Deputy Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said 40 EVMS (electronic voting machines) and VVPATS (Paper Audit Trail that can be verified) was sent to Kaza in the Valley of Spiti with a helicopter.
“This district has 92 polling booths, including 29 in the spitual valley.
Also, 11 additional EVMs have been sent for smooth bypoll,” he said.
Many pollings are in a remote location.
Tashigang’s high polling station 15,256 feet is the highest in the world in Spiti Valley, and has been made into a voting model.
The voting team will move to their station on October 28, two days before comparison, on the government bus.
Lahaul-spiti has 23,790 voters, including 11,949 women.
Polling in Tribal Lahaul-spiti became a challenge in winter.
Many high altitude villages are still covered with snow.
There are more snow predictions in higher areas on October 23 24, and 27 to 29.
It can affect voters.
Snowfall can also block many connecting roads.
The temperature in the district has plunged after the snow recently.
DC said the road that connects all open district polling stations and all arrangements to carry out smooth and peaceful elections has been made.
Overall, 12,99,756 voters 17 assembly constituents of six districts will use their franchise at 2,365 polling booths on October 30 to choose a new MP from the bath chair.
Bath, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur District, the constituency of the Assembly of the Shimla Regency Assembly and the Constituency of the Bharmaurus Assembly from Chamba Regency formed a bath parliamentary constituency.
Every vote booth will be manned by eight people, including health workers to ensure the Covid-19 safety protocol is being followed.
Voters will also be given a face mask and hand gloves.
Wearing gloves will be mandatory before pressing the button on EVM.
