Chandigarh: The speaker assembly of Punjab Rana Kp Singh on Tuesday disqualified Jaito Mla Baldev Singh because he defected the AAM AADMI Party (AAP).
Rebelling against AAP, Baldev Singh has joined Punjabi ETTA the party floating by former MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira ahead of the Election of the Sabha 2019 for a unsuccessful contest from Faridkot, only to return to AAP’s folds in October 2019.
The official statement said that the speaker had disqualified Baldev Singh Kalyan, MLA who was elected from the constituency of the Assembly Jaito (SC) of Punjab, from the membership of the Punjab legislature with the effect of October 26, 2021, in accordance with the provisions of the Indian Constitutional Schedule.
Meanwhile, a similar petition for the other three mlaids – Amarjit Singh Sandoa, Nazar Singh and Khaira are still delayed.
While Sandoa had returned to AAP after turning to Congress, Nazar Singh and Khaira continued to be in Congress.
However, the speaker received a resignation that was covered by Khaira who was submitted when joining the Congress.
Khaira, 2 other AP AAP MLAs have won 20 seats in the 2017 assembly poll, but HS Phoolka then resigned.
Apart from Khaira, two other AAP Rebel Mlaas, Pirmal Singh (Bhadaur) and Jagdev Singh Kamalu (MAUR) have joined the powerful Congress on June 3 and the three have resigned from Vidhan Sabha.
Baldev Singh is responsible for disqualification based on paragraph 2 (1) (a) from the tenth constitutional schedule, which states that a member of the house owned by political parties must be disqualified if he voluntarily gave a voluntary political party membership.
Petitions who are looking for disqualified Baldev Singh are submitted by lawyers from Jalandhar and voters from their constituencies.
