Guwahati: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said the state government was ready to cut VAT whirlpool and diesel if their prices continue to remain at the current level for more than a month.
While it becomes optimistic that the center will come with little for people, Sarma fights to use ethanol mixed fuel to reduce the use of conventional fuel because the state awaits the investment of Rs 1500-200 Crore from private entities to regulate seven ethanol plants.
After the new ethanol policy was adopted, the state government had received 14 proposals to form rice-based ethanol plants to combine them with fuel.
“Out of it, the Government of India and the Assam government jointly agreed to seven, which when resolved will see an investment around 1,500 crore to Rs 2,000 Crore.
We will immediately hold the MOU signing ceremony.
This is the biggest investment we get.
Immediately after Our government (NDA) came to power, “he said.
“If we need to reduce further taxes to provide assistance to Assam people, we will do that.
But I don’t want to do it based on the results of one month.
If high rates last for a long time, then we will want to provide assistance.
We don’t Want extra money, “he said.
On Friday, the price of gasoline and diesel in Guwahati each was Rs 104.65 and Rs 97.24.
