Bengaluru: One of the longest Bengaluru’s longest infrastructure projects was finally finished.
The Rail Bridge over 810m-long (ROB) in Byappanahalli, which was proposed in 2010-11, touched the finish line after delaying more than a decade.
Last month, the Ashwini Vaishnaw train minister said Sir M Vesvaraya Terminal (Terminal Train Three BYappanahalli) will be opened only after the connectivity problem is resolved.
The Sir MV 314-Crore terminal that offers facilities such as the airport and ready on March 2021 has not been inaugurated.
Toi has brought a series of articles about the delay byappanahalli Rob.
This new facility will ensure connectivity between Sir MV terminals and Swami Vivekada Metro Station at Old Madras Road.
However, the two-path wide structure cannot reduce congestion.
The recent BBMP floated tenders for two routes that robbed on this bridge.
Ucike plans to build a swivel flyover which is elevated in Maruthi Seva Nagar-IOC Junction, however, it is not clear when the two projects will be completed.
Southwestern train officials confirm that the structure is complete.
“Only a few finishing work and painting are delayed,” said an official.
However, BBMP has not finished road work and drainage on the road approach from Jalan Madras Old.
While street lights have been installed on Rob, they have not worked.
Swr officials said working on Rob was stopped in 2012 after the Madras (Madras Sappers) engineer group refused permission to carry out construction work on its land.
Work back only in 2019 after the Ministry of Defense gave a nod.
However, the project should be completed in June 2020 skipped a series of deadlines.
SWR officials said Rob’s work faced several obstacles, including delays in obtaining permission from defense and lack of workers due to pandemic and locking.
SWR officials said they had completed the subway under Rob for two-wheeled and pedestrians.
This facility will also provide better access to areas such as Maruthi Seva Nagar and Old Byappanahalli to Old Madras Road.
It will eliminate two gate crossing levels on the Thebengaluru-Chennai railroad, which often sees passenger movements and train items.
Many regular commuters say they are relieved now.
