Mysuru: The day after the son of a nine-year-old vegetable trader was kidnapped because of his ransom, his body was found near Kunterator at Hunsur on Thursday.
He was found killed and the body was thrown into the bushes.
Kidnapers may have killed Karthik (9), the son of the Nagaraj of Hanagod trader in Hunsur, afraid of their identity to be known, police said.
One of the kidnappers has been detained.
Police supervisor R Chethan explained toi that Karthik was kidnapped on Wednesday and was found killed on Thursday afternoon.
Kidnappers demanded Rs 4 lakh from Nagaraj to free his son.
Investigations are being carried out to determine how and when the boy has been killed, the people involved in crime and motives behind the kidnapping for ransom.
One defendant has been detained and investigations occurred, SP stated.
According to police, Karthik, a grade IV student, was kidnapped when he went to buy crackers from a village shop on Wednesday night.
His father Nagaraj received a call from an unknown cellphone number around 7:30 p.m.
and the caller told him that his son had been kidnapped.
Traders immediately rushed home just to find his son disappeared.
The kidnapper called him again and put a request Rs 4 lakh to release his son and then turn off their cellphone.
Nagaraj was looking for his son in the nearest areas and asked with fellow villagers before approaching the police late at night.
Senior police officers rushed to the place immediately after the complaint was submitted by Nagara and immediately launched the search.
They interrogated all suspicious individuals and finally arrested one of the defendants who led the police to the crime scene.
Karthik’s body recovered from the bushes in the nearest place.
