Haveri: Haveri District has received heavier rain than usual this year and several main roads are severely damaged.
Haveri-guttal, Guttal-Ranebennur, Savanur-Hosaritti, Haveri-Hattimattor, Haveri-Gadag, Haveri-HireraRoad Roads and many others are not worthy of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.
According to sources, the PWD road construction agency faces crunch funds, while people demand repairs.
Many roads have turned into a pond filled with mud and many times, muddy water enters their homes that live on the ground floor.
Some drivers have suffered minor injuries after falling from their vehicle.
Diciprated pedestrians with mud are the general view now.
The streets of Guttal-Haveri, Savanur-Hosaritti and Haveri-Savanur who suffer heavy damage can hardly be motivated, especially for small vehicles.
Malikarjun Balehosur, a member of Gram Panchayat in Koaradur Village, said he was afraid of traveling to Haveri from Hosaritti on two or four wheels because of a large hole and mud.
“It’s hell.
Road Hosaritti-Haveri and Guttal-Haveri bumpy and it is a painful experience, especially for pregnant women.
We have demanded that the authorities improve these streets but nothing is done,” he said.
“We don’t know whether we will achieve our goals,” said a private school teacher.
Satish Jahagiradar, PWD Executive Engineer, Haveri Division, acknowledged that the streets were in a bad condition.
He said that PWD had sent a proposal to the government about Jalan Haveri-Guttal and was waiting for a nod.
“Meanwhile, we have completed the tender process to repair the road, but the rain continues to stop repairs.
We will soon start working,” he said.
