Guwahati: The truck falling into the Brahmaputra River on Monday, after the Kolia Bhomora bridge fence in the Sonitpur Assam district, was found by the rescue team on Tuesday from the surface of the water.
However, the driver and helper remained lost.
From the restored document from a bag by the rescue team from the location, the police have identified the driver as Rajib Biswakarma and the maid as Amit Sonar.
Sonitpur SP Dhananjay P Ghanawat said that the truck was loaded with 16 MTs iron rods and other ingredients and were on our way to Bandhimpur in Lakhimpur from Dimapur in Nagapur.
The truck fell into the river from almost the middle of the bridge, after hitting the fence, around 1:30 a.m.
on Monday.
“The rescue operation for the lost body has been stopped due to darkness.
This will continue tomorrow (Wednesday) morning,” he added.
The team from DRF, SDRF and the river police were involved in search operations.
The accident was revealed after the party patrolled the police saw a damaged fence on Monday morning.
The police conducted a preliminary investigation and found that a truck had met with an accident and fell into the river.
