Bengaluru: BMLTA is delayed for a long time (Bengaluru Metropolitan Land Transport Transport), which imagines umbrella organizations for Bengaluru on transportation routes for London (TFL), is likely to be placed in the legislative assembly during the winter session in Bellagavi, scheduled to start on December 13.
Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development Department) Rakesh Singh told TOI: “The bill is likely to be submitted during the upcoming session.
A meeting of other stakeholders with various government departments is waiting.
But we will soon finish it.” In September, the Transportation Directorate Urban land (Dult) prepares a BLETA BILL design, which is available on its website.
BLTTA will be an integrated transportation body that will integrate many government institutions and produce initiatives such as general mobility cards and multi-capital transportation hubs.
National urban transportation policies recommend the establishment of an integrated metropolitan transportation authority.
Even though the BMLTA Committee was formed in 2007, it did not have legal force.
However, BUK BMLTA aims to form authority with reserves of law to regulate and coordinate urban mobility initiatives in the Bengaluru Metropolitan region.
At present, institutions such as the Department of Transportation, the Development Authority of Bangalore, BDA, BMTC, BMRCL, BMP, and Traffic Police are responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and managing the city.
Given that some institutions and departments are working, overlapping responsibilities and functions blocking planning and implementation.
According to Draft Bill, BLTATA will have 21 members, with the minister’s chairman as Chair and Minister of Development and Transportation Bengaluru as Deputy Chairperson.
Other members include the Mayor of the BBMP and representatives of departments such as urban development, transportation, finance, public works, women’s and children’s development, police, BBMP, BDA, BMRDA, BMRCL, City Directorate and State Planning, Pollution Notifications, and Karnataka Development of Railroad Infrastructure .
Commissioner Dult will be the CEO.
There will be two special invitations from the southwestern train and the National Highway Authority of India.
It will also have 10 non-official members – three experts on urban mobility, corporate governance and finance, two of civil society organizations, three of the institutions representing the private sector and professional agencies, and two of academic institutions.
The proposed BMLTA will prepare a comprehensive mobility plan and traffic management plan.
