Bengaluru: While the increasing number of electric vehicle companies (EV) has launched two-wheeled vehicles managed by batteries, consumers in Karnataka do not get government subsidies, unlike their colleagues in other countries.
In Karnataka, only road tax exceptions without registration fees are given to EV customers.
Many other states / union areas offer financial subsidies for electric two-wheeled wheels to go with the exception of road taxes.
Delhi offers a maximum subsidy of RS 30,000, while Maharashtra provides up to RS 25,000.
The limit is Rs 20,000 in Meghalaya, Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, and Gujarat (see box).
Karnataka is an EV manufacturing center, Mahindra Electric housing, Ather Energy, Ola Electric, Bosch and Sun Mobility.
It is also the first country to launch an e-vehicle policy in 2017.
According to sources, the industry department encourages subsidies for customers, but the Ministry of Finance does not support due to crunch crunch.
“Although there is competition among countries to promote EV, Karnataka only focuses on investment and R & D in this sector.
The decision to provide subsidies to EV owners must be taken by the Ministry of Finance,” said an industrial department official.
There is no transfer of benefits that their officials now provide incentives to EV and investors so that they can transfer benefits to consumers by reducing the price of the vehicle base.
However, prospective EV customers said they did not get a discount.
“The Industrial Department subsidizes the manufacturer.
Although the government thinks this will reduce EV costs, the benefits are not transferred to consumers.
Investors in the EV sector will get a 15% capital subsidy in fixed assets, including land subsidies, related to production of 1% on turnover for five years, 100 % Exception of stamp duty, registration fee of 0.1%, and 50% subsidies in waste treatment plants.
Costs (up to RS 2 Crore).
There are also 25% capital subsidies on equipment for filling stations (up to RS 10 Lakh Station), “said The official.
He said there were more than 45 EV matches in the state and more than 400 R & D centers.
“We are now considering subsidizing companies that change gasoline vehicles to EV,” he added.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari told Rajya Sabha on Wednesday there were 8.7 lakh ev in this country.
Uttar Pradesh has the most with 2.5 lakh, followed by Delhi (1.25 lakh) and Karnataka (72,544).
“While GST on EVS is reduced from 12% to 5%, that the charging / charging station has been cut from 18% to 5%,” he said.
