Hubballi: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday appealed to the people to respect the personality of the iconic and avoid lend an ear to rumors, after criminals target the sculpture Freedom Fighter Sangolli and Shivaji at Belagavi and Bengaluru.

“Insulting one of our great national leaders in the name of language politics is detrimental to their nationalist spirit and will not be tolerated.
In any case we will let the criminals disrupt law and order in Karnataka,” said Bommai.
He asked people not to mix other problems for the humble contribution of historical figures.
“Our government will not tolerate anyone insulting patriot and disturb law and order in the state.
Delivering your sentiment with peace.
Whoever they are, we will deal with them with an iron hand,” said Bommai told reporters.
Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said strict action has been taken against the criminals who ruin sculpture Rulanna Sangolli.
The minister said the Marathi and Kannada speaking people live in harmony in the area adjacent to the Belagaivi but a few thugs, “not even the dust” of great personalities, damaging their statues.
He also said that he was in touch with the police officials in Bengaluru and Belagaivi to ensure that law and order is maintained.
Meanwhile, the district administration has clamped down orders occupant under Section 144 CRPC in Belagaivi until 20 December.
So far, 27 people have been arrested for memvandali statue of Sangolli Rulanna, and they have been returned to hold court for 14 days
