Beleagavi: Freedom Fighter Statue Sangolli Rulanna was damaged in Angol in South Belagiavi and criminals targeting government vehicles with stones after the news about social media which is the statue of Chgatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was revealed in Bengaluru.
Police apply part 144 from Saturday 6am to Monday 6 in the area of Bellagavi and Taluk.
Security has been estimated in sensitive areas.
Police arrested workers 23 Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) for inciting violence and to try to burn police vehicles.
Arrest included a leading leader, Shubham Shelke.
Four separate cases have been registered in three police stations.
On Friday night, more than 100 MES members gathered in Sambhaji Circle in Ramalingakinda Galli, demanding the arrest of criminals who had smeared ink on the statue of Shivaji in Bengaluru.
The workers led by Shelke began shouting anti-Kannada slogans, while the police team landed at the scene.
DCP (law and command) Vikram Amte tried to mediate peace with the protesters, but the horde used violence, began to throw stones and tried to burn police vehicles.
The police were then forced to lathicharge to disperse a horde.
The protesters also targeted Kannadigas owned lodges.
CM condemned the incidence of incidents of incidents as stipulated, Chief Minister of Bukavaraj Bommai directed the Interior Minister Araga Jnanendra to take strict action against those who tried to disrupt peace.
“Incidents such as pelting stones, causing damage to public property and illegal government vehicles, so that the police have been directed to take long-term steps so that the incident does not repeat,” CM added.
Former CM BS Yediyurappa condemned the incident.
