Bengaluru: More than 6 months later, after first announcing Covid-19 compensation for BPL families who lost their family members because of the pandemic, the state government would provide Rs 1 lakh per family in a political event in Bengaluru on December 27.
Minister of Basavaraj Bommai announced the incident that would be inaugurated by him, the Minister of Finance and Karnataka MP Nirmala Sitharaman together with the Union Minister BT Rajeev Chandrasek and was attended by almost all of his cabinet ministers from Bengaluru.
This event will be held at the National College Plumps Basavanagudi in Bengaluru at 11 am.
The government, while it has released RS 50,000 compensation from the center as Covid compensation, has refrained in the negligible distribution of state compensation to distribute it at a mega event.
According to BBMP officials, 2,750 BPL family beneficiaries have been identified for compensation in the city.
“Of this amount, we want to distribute the amount to close to 1,500 beneficiaries that day,” said the official.
It is said that the Lakh RS 1 compensation will be provided by the check distribution.
Meanwhile, according to the income department, distribution throughout the state has begun in a small way with local MLAS which distributes state compensation.
“It’s just Bangaloo BJP MLA who wants to launch the distribution in a big way and therefore must be accommodated,” said an official of the income department.
38.305 people have died on Friday night because of the pandemic, from March to April 2020.
