Mysuru: A nine-year-old girl landed at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru on the night of December 19, has been tested positively for the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
This is the first case of Omicron reported from MySuru District.
Interestingly all his family members have been tested negatively for Covid.
The district government was at a high warning after the incident.
DC Bagadi Gautham and Dho KH Prasad said the girl is now in isolation of the house and her asymptomatic.
According to sources, on arrival from Switzerland, the whole family was tested in Kia.
At the time of testing, it was found that the girl was positive and the swab sample was sent to the Nimhans lab for the genome sequencing.
“On Wednesday night, we were told that the girl was infected by the omicron variant,” said Dho Prasad.
Authorities say that all government guidelines already exist.
They added that primary and secondary contacts from children were being tracked and tested.
They also asked people to follow Covid-19 behavior in addition to taking vaccines.
With the District Inching closer to the coverage of 100% first dose vaccination, the authorities have decided to intensify the coverage of the second dose vaccination.
