Guwahati: The Ministry of Health Assam has issued blanket instructions for all public and private medical hospitals to treat non-covid emergency patients immediately by taking all protection steps but without wasting time saving life by insisting on the previous Covid test report or waiting for any test results.
“This will help us to save a lot of valuable life by providing medical assistance at the right time,” the official command word.
“If such emergency treatments were not given to these patients at that time by insisting on the previous Covid report, many patients might lose their lives.
To prevent such an unfortunate incident, with this directed that if there were general patients reported with medical emergencies for Treatment of any disease, he must be given direct medical care by medical officers and medical staff who are on duty without insisting on the previous Covid test report or waiting for such test results, “read orders by the Main Secretary of the Ministry of Health.
The department has added that in such cases, the present doctors and other paramedic personnel must use all protective devices such as PPE kit and gloves for protection.
Orders stated that for the first two waves of Covid-19, there were many cases when patients appeared in various hospitals for emergency non-covid purposes but seized from treatment or there were delays in providing treatment before the Covid report.
The command has underlined that some such cases have also been submitted in the Human Rights Commission by several people in the last two waves and when Covid cases have begun to increase in the country and in the state, it is expected that as long as many general emergency cases will report to Hospital for treatment.
