Guwahati: When Assam prepares to celebrate Bhogali Bihu, the post-harvest festival from Friday amid the omicron threat, the temple has canceled a weld and related events that fear the spread of the virus.
People throughout the country have begun to prepare delicious bihou, which includes a variety of customary cakes (Pitha) prepared using rice powder, coconut, sesame and jaggery, and built Bhela Ghars which is an integral part of the festival.
Bhela Ghar is an emergency cottage built using bamboo, banana leaves and straw and burned in the morning on the first day of the month of Assamese Magh, where people offer prayers to the god of fire.
Guwahati has been flooded with various dishes, including Pitha, Laroos, and Dadih.
“Bora” Rice, used to prepare various original cakes during the celebration of the bihu, is being sold for Rs 60-70 per kg on Monday while sesame is being sold for RS 180-200 per kg, Jaggers for Rs 50-80, curds for RS 160 -180 per liter and cream for Rs 600 in the city.
The price of these products has dropped to a certain extent compared to last year.
The product has seen a price increase last year because the market opened after a long time due to the covid-19 pandemic and subsequent locking.
Temples such as Dasartha in Guwahati and Hayaagriv Madhav in Hajo canceled their events related to Bhogali Bihu who were afraid of the spread of Covid-19.
Kuiltha Temple usually holds Malhi Maga and Hayaagriv Madhav Temple holds the story of Utsav during the festival.
