Dharwad: Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil along with Commissioner HDMC B Gopalakrishna and Probationer IAS Madhav Gitte surrounded the city in the cycle on Tuesday morning and checked cleaning work with Pourakakikas.
The trio departed in the cycle of DC’s residence at 6 am and visited Subhas Road where they drank tea with PourakaSh which had begun to sweep and clean the area.
The team then visited the super market area and found some unauthorized structures.
DC directs the HDMC commissioner to take steps to remove the structure and provide alternative space for roadside vegetables and fruit vendors in addition to providing facilities such as drinking water and toilets.
Trio then visits Azad Park, Line Bazar and other areas and checks ‘Blackspots’ where people are accustomed to throwing garbage.
In an effort to prevent people from disposing of garbage, civil workers have drawn Rangoli after cleaning the place.
If people continue to throw garbage in the same place, they will be slapped with a fine of RS 5000, DC said.
The commissioner HDMC Gopalkrishna said people had a tendency to throw garbage on open sites and this must stop.
This will be the responsibility of the site owner to ensure the site is clean.
HDMC will charge a fine on the owner who allows their site to be used as a dump yard, he said.
Officials then breakfast at Indira Canteen opposite the Mini Vidhana Soudha with Pourakakikas and HDMC officials.
Commissioner of Zonal Assistant RM Kulkarni, MB Sabarad, Dashavant and others were present.
