Bengaluru: When India celebrates the 73rd Republican Day, some of the leading personality from Karnataka releases an open letter to the Bommai Basilvaraj CM which expresses their concern for what they call “religious violence” in the state.
They urge CM to control the periphery elements and uphold long history of Karnataka as a progressive country that facilitates social harmony with a compound community.
The letter was signed by 34 intellectuals from the State including historian Ramachandra Guheh, Prof.
Janaki Nair, Scientist Prof.
Sharadchandra Lele, Prof.
Vidyanand Nanjundiah, Sociologist AR Vasavi and Prof.
Satish Deshpande, Purusottam Bilimale and KP SURESHA, environmentally friendly Yelvpa Reddy and Acticist Bezwada Wilson.
“We are a group of senior scientists, writers, academics, artists, and lawyers, and we write worry about the deteriorating carnataka governance and violence that often fight religious minorities,” the letter was read.
The letter regretted that for the past few months, the country had witnessed the brutal murder of young people in several districts, rampant ‘hatred speeches’, public threats and worship disorders by religious minorities, ‘honor killings’, ‘Moral Police’, misogynistic statements by legislators, and hostile enemy incidents and violence between various religious groups.
This trend has been driven by an unconstitutional statement made by the legislator and the inability of the engine of the country to master the anti-social groups of the edge.
The letter also accused that such trends contrary to Karnataka’s long history as a progressive state.
“The history of state culture celebrates cultural plurality and religious tolerance and our icon has long been Basavanna, Akkamahadevi, Kanakadasa, Purandaradasa, and Santa Shishunala Sharifa,” said the letter.
“We noted with sadness and alarms that this tolerance tradition and joint well-being torn recent legislation such as ‘cattle protection’ and ‘anti-conversion’ are pogroms on economic rights and religious minority cultures.
No more harmony, peace , and the tolerance of state-sides, the signatory said too.
The letter also warns that if the problem above is not handled, Karnataka’s reputation as a business objective or investor will beat CM and all legislators seriously review this negative trend and To ensure that the principles of the constitution, the rights of all citizens, and humanitarian norms are valid.
Safe minority: cmreacting to bommai letters say all minorities in the safe state and their ri Ghts as citizens who are immortalized in the medium constitution protected.
“If there is excess, direct action has been taken by the government.
