Bengaluru: Multi-level parking lot in Freedom Park which takes six years to build has been waiting for three months now to be assigned.
The reason: three tenders called by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to run the facility has not yet raised response.
“Three tenders have been summoned since November, but there is no one advanced bidder.
Public fear is that the facility may not produce adequate income considering that residents parked free residents in the surrounding area.
Next, we held a meeting with police officers to ensure signs No-parking is installed around the facility.
The idea behind this parking lot is to the commercial area decomposed, “said M Lokesh, Head of Engineer, BBMP.
Working to build a multi-level parking lot began in 2015 and should be completed in 2017.
This project was delayed for several reasons, including the lack of permission to do an explosion to negotiate a rocky underground surface where the construction occurred.
This project was developed at a cost of Rs 78 Crore.
This facility can accommodate 550 cars and 500 two wheels.
With the density of vehicles increasing on the day, traders from Gandhinagar, Avenue Road and other markets are increasingly impatient because the work on the facility is largely complete but has not yet been operational.
Sajjan Raj Mehta, a trader from Old Tharagupet, said that the facility was functional, it would benefit the traders from the surrounding market.
“In my opinion, the reason for the delay, especially no one considered a responsible contractor.
The Civic Agency must begin including a penalty clause in the contract agreement and punish the contractor who failed to fulfill the agreed date,” he said.
Jaychand Bafna, a trader from Gandhinagar, said: “For more than a year, there are banners outside the property stating the multi-level parking lot will soon be open.
At this point, even ordinary people are more than willing to pay every hour in the parking facilities rather than leaving The vehicle is on the road, where it might be unsafe or can be withdrawn.
“The only delayed job is related to the solar roof because this facility is likely to run on solar energy, Lokesh said.
“We plan to give it to the bidder on the basis of experiments to assess how much income might be produced by the parking facilities and then find out the costs,” he added.
