DIBRUGARH: Tinsukia authorities have arrested 12 men in relation to the lynching of a 34-year-old guy in Korjonga village at Doomdooma on Saturday morning.
The deceased, identified as Sarat Moran, was lynched by a mob after he and the other individual was discovered going in a suspicious way at the village at about 4.15am.
According to authorities, there’d been several cases of creature theft in the region in the past weekly and upon finding both unidentified persons going , the villagers raised an alert and also chased them.
While among them was able to flee, the natives caught hold of another and attacked him.
Cops in the Baghjan police station afterwards shifted him into the FRU hospital at Doomdooma in which he succumbed to his injuries.
Tinsukia SP Debojit Deuri on Sunday stated Moran who collaborated to Kordoiguri village proved to be a neighborhood goon that was previously arrested by the authorities in another case.
“The sufferer, Sarat Moran was a goonda component.
He was arrested earlier at a situation.
We’re exploring what he had been performing in the village thus early in the afternoon.
A hunt is on to his spouse also.
Although the locals guessed him for a cattle thief, no creature was discovered along with him.
There have been many cases of creature theft in the region and also in different sections of Tinsukia district.
Sometimes, the thieves come on bikes and stole goats,” the SP said.
He also refuted reports that Mohan had been tied and tortured entire night and that the body has been cut blades and salt poured hsi wounds.
“The episode occured between 4.15am and 4.30am.
After authorities spared him, he had been carried to the hospital.
The physician examined his wounds around 5.05’m.
I had been advised by the physician that each of the wounds were new.
The cut marks weren’t deep which wouldn’t become the situation if blade has been used.
The accidents were probably due to bamboo sticks however we’re awaiting the postmortem report.
Whatever the situation, it’s a really unfortunate incident.
The guilty won’t be spared,” he added.
The authorities have registered a case under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (criminal action done by various persons) of this IPC.
The All Moran Pupils’ Union condemned the incident, and it has known for a comprehensive enquiry and punishment to the guilty persons.
