CHANDIGARH: Panjab University (PU) pupils took on cops, sat on dharna and raised slogans when they discovered the AC Joshi library barricaded on Wednesday, intensifying their demonstration that forced the police to declare launching its doors for everybody and reopening of departmental libraries.
Members of different parties in their 16th day of demonstration looking for the introduction of this library to many pupils obtained mad after finding authorities had set up barricades about it.
“The librarian assured us to start it on Wednesday.
When pupils raised their demonstration, the government called the cops who attempted to prevent us from protesting to our faith,” explained the protesting pupils.
Meanwhile, scholars analyzing the first floor of the library opened its doors, letting the protesters to get entry.
In the melee, a glass was broken.
The government then held discussions with the pupils.
In an order published at the day afterwards, PU declared the outer studying hall of this library is going to soon be opened from 8am to 9pm for all of the pupils with 50% seats capacity on first-come first-served foundation.
The studying halls on the second and first floor will be opened for research workers in 9am to 8pm using 50% complete capability, ” the order stated.
The college further said entrance of pupils will be permitted only on the grounds of getting library ID cards and after of Covid protocol.The library is going to be stayed closed throughout lockdown or curfew.
Libraries of sections will soon be reopened for pupils, the order stated.
The pupils are on an indefinite strike away from the administrative block.
Their other requirements are to think about lockdown time as zero, provide hostels to scholars and open yet another wreck canteens in boys and woman hostels and draw”fictitious” complaints.
