CHANDIGARH:”A 58-year-old tribe died allegedly after swallowing poison in a web site of protest against the Centre’s three plantation legislation at Jind district in Haryana,” authorities said on Wednesday.
“The dead person was recognized as Pala Ram,” Uchana police station SHO Ravinder Singh stated over the telephone.
“He swallowed toxin late Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning we obtained advice that a farmer has expired,” he explained, adding that no suicide note was discovered in the place.
In the demonstration website at Khatkar toll plaza, 500-700 protesters generally accumulate during the daytime, while just a couple of remain there immediately, according to the authorities.
“While just two to 3 individuals slept outside on Tuesday night, Pala Ram proceeded to sleep in a tent built in the website and swallowed poison,” Singh explained.
Pala Ram employed to serve tea and food into the protesting farmers in the toll plaza for the last couple of months.
Farmers in the demonstration website advised the authorities he seemed dejected for the last couple of days because the requirements of their peasants agitating from the plantation legislation for more than six months had not been fulfilled.
A couple of instances of suicide by farmers are reported throughout the agitation.
Back in December lat year, a Sikh preacher had allegedly ended his entire life close to the Singhu boundary protest website, asserting that he had been”not able to accept the pain of these farmers”.
An attorney from Punjab had murdered himself by swallowing poison close to the demonstration site in the Tikri boundary.
Farmers are protesting since November last year demanding the Farmers’ Create Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, Farmers’ (Empowerment and Protection) Deal on Cost Assurance and Farm Services Act, along with the critical Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 be restored along with a new law designed to ensure minimum support price to plants.
On the other hand, the government has claimed that these laws are pro-farmer.
