Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh District has witnessed a surge in the number of children infected with Covid-19 during the second wave of covid pandemic.
In accordance with data, 2,380 children in the age group 0-18 have been tested positive for Covid-19 in the Dibrugarh District since April 1.
It accounts for 12.08% of the total 19,695 total cases detected during that period.
During the first wave of last year, around 1,550 children were infected in the district.
The number of deaths among positive children Covid also rose in the second wave with five deaths recorded at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in June only.
Three among the five died children have comorbidity or some health conditions.
The first death of the children recorded at Amch this month was a 37-day-old child on June 2, followed by the death of a 34-day-old baby on June 9 on June 17, a 8-year-old child, 8-year-old child died.
Likewise, another 5-month-old child died on June 19 and on June 26, a 11-month-old child gave up on the virus.
