Chandigarh: Police Haryana on Tuesday confiscated a consignment of 1,060 cartons (12,720 bottles) of Indian Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a container truck in Rewari which was allegedly smuggled on the rice invoice from Chandigarh to Gujarat.
The truck driver was arrested in this relationship and was questioned, a spokesman Haryana Police said here.
He said that a police party during the patrol received a tip-off of a container truck carrying a Maharashtra registration number that brought a large consignment of illegal liquor.
Based on input, the police team set a check barrier on the road to Jaipur and signify a truck to stop checking.
“The driver was asked to show the documents.
He showed a rice invoice.
However, when checking, 1,060 IMFL cartons were restored.
The driver failed to produce permissions or licenses from the smuggle confiscated,” spokesman said.
Arrested accused of being identified as Sukhjinder Singh, a Taran Taran District district in Punjab.
The police have submitted cases under the relevant parts of excise and the Indian criminal code.
More probes are taking place, said the spokesman.
