Guwahati: The city police arrested a man on Monday night for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in the Satgaon area on Sunday.
The defendant was arrested on the basis of the evera submitted by the victim’s parents.
The accusation was produced before the court on Tuesday and sent to prison.
According to the police, the defendant has lived in one of the flats hired by the victim’s family.
The alleged incident took place on Sunday night when the victim had a gonr to the toilet.
“The parents in FIR stated that the victim was forcibly taken by the defendant to his room and raped him,” police said.
The defendant has been ordered under the relevant section of children from sexual violations (Pocso) and India KUHP (IPC).
Meanwhile, on Monday, a doctor in the District Dibrugarh was arrested on charges of allegedly raping his colleague.
