More than 7,000 hits by floods in District 2 Assam

Guwahati: More than 7,000 people, including 1,877 children from 96 villages in two East Regency Assam-Dhemuji and Dibrugarh have been flooded in the last 24 hours.
According to the flood reporting and information system of the State Government (FRIM), 3,870 people have been affected by Jonai and Dhemaji’s revenue circles in the Dhemaji district and 3,717 in Chabua Circle in Dibrugarh District.
Two other income circles, Manikpur and Srijangram from the Bongaiga district in the western part of the country have also been influenced by floods but so far have no reports of the population being hit.
More than 11 hectares of harvest areas have also been influenced by flooding in three districts.
It is separate, the Jhanji River’s flood water has damaged the embankment in the Dhantula area in the Jorhat district while as many as 13 roads and four bridges in various locations have been damaged in Bonigiga District.
In Tinsukia District in Sadiya, a Bund-cum-road agri in the village of Pohukhowa Bisnupur which was built under Mgnrega was violated by the overflowing waters of the Kundil River.
The flood rivers, especially the Brahmaputra river have caused erosion in several places in Besa, Barpeta, Dhemuji, Toawerpara, Morigaon and South Salmara Regency.
