Chandigarh: UT government finally issued a notification of eviction to 23 gas stations from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) because they did not deposit land rentals.
The plantation office has sent this problem to the sub-division judge of the three divisions to start the eviction process.
The problem of depositing land rent is ongoing for one year.
Previously, this year, the Estate office has issued a notification for 37 gas stations – 19 IOCL, 10 HPCL and eight BPCL – to deposit their rent.
Only 14 of them responded.
The other reluctant behavior left UT without choosing but to issue a notification.
The total rent of 37 gas stations is around Rs 25 Crore.
Of all this, 14 has paid Rs 14 Crore.
The remaining 23 gas stations must pay around RS 11 Crore to the administration even though the calculations still occur in some cases.
“The oil company had to pay the number at the end of March last year, but they failed to do it.
The department has held several meetings with them and gave them sufficient time.
UT has sent a notification to get the ground emptied from the gas station that is defaulted,” said the source.
