Guwahati: Police Assam on Friday broke a group of inter-country sex trade in Kerala and saved nine girls who were brought to Karela captivated by the promises of work and marriage and arrested two people in this connection.

Police Assam has investigated this problem after registering a suo-motu case following the tip-off to track gang members and arrest them.
“Tracing the cellphone signal from two gang members, the Assam police team went to Thampanoor.
The arrest was made with the help of Kerala police after the Assam team met the City Police Commissioner IG Balram Kumar Upadhyay and seek his help,” A said source.
“An information is received by @HoJai_Police about illegal human trafficking racquets operating from Assam, where some girls belonging to various districts in Assam have traded to Thampanoor, Kerala,” Singh tweeted.
Based on specific input, a case was registered at the Lanka Police Station in the Hojai district on July 11 under some parts of the IPC and the team consisting of eight police personnel left for Kerala on July 13 to save the victims and arrest the allegations, he said.
The girls came from the Rural Hojai District, Nagaon, Sonitpur, Morigaon and Kamrup, while the defendant came from Hojai and Nagaon, Singh added.
