Manali: At least nine people were killed and seven others were reported missing after Cloudburst hit Lahaul-Spiti and Himachal District Kullu on Tuesday night and early on Wednesday.
The missing person included four people from Kullu and three of Lahaul.
According to officials, a Cloudburst on Tozing Nullah in Lahaul swept several tents and three vehicles.
Two vehicles – one towards Pangi and the others to the Jahlma, stuck in a high water flow in Nullah Tozing on Tuesday night.
A JCB of Border Roads Organization (Bro) comes to rescue them and tries to attract vehicles.
Flashflood in Nullah swept the three vehicles.
Deputy Commissioner Lahaul-spiti Neeraj Kumar said rescue operations were launched immediately and one person was saved.
“One person has suffered a serious injury.
He has been referred to a hospital outside the district.
So far, nine bodies have also recovered.
At least seven people are still missing.
We hope that some of them can live.
We have been seeking help from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) while our disaster management, the Organization of the Border Road (Bro), Police Border Police and Indo-Tibet (ITBP) has been involved in rescue operations, “he said.
Others Cloudburst brought havoc in Brahma Ganga Rivulet near Manikaran in Kullu Regency at the beginning of Wednesday.
Floodwaters entered the house in several residential areas and people ran for their lives.
Four people were reported missing in the incident.
Kullu Taker Police Gurdev Chand Sharma said, “Three people, identified as Poonam, 26, and his son Nikunj, 4, the residents of Brahmganga Village near Manikaran and one tourist Vinita, 25, residents of Ghaziabad have been swept away in flash floods.
One other person Virender, residents Sangana Village near Manikaran was also reported missing.
“Himachal received intermittent rain but remote areas were tied with heavy rain which had triggered flash floods and landslides.
A large number of roads in the state are blocked.
The Manali-Leh highway is blocked in many places.
Keylong-Karytwar road is also blocked.
Chandigarh-Manali National Highway is blocked when large stones roll on the highway between aut and shower.
Bypass road shower-kullu via Batula was also blocked because of landslides.
A large bridge in Jahlma Village in Lahaul has been washed.
Highway Manali-Rohtang has also been blocked after two landslides.
At Kullu, three vehicles were hit by debris when heavy rains triggered local floods.
Lahaul-Spiti SP Manav Verma said about nine missing in tozing Nullah Flood, four employees bro, two jobs with airtel and four traveling towards the Pangley valley.
“Seven people traveled towards Pangi.
Four lost while three have been saved.
Many other people have been evacuated from various districts and have been transferred to safe places.
Search and rescue operations are underway,” he said.
