Hassan: More than 100 nursing students here, the majority of neighboring countries Kerala, tested positive covid in the last three days.
Two said in critical conditions at the district hospital.
This is the cause of concern for health and government officials as Hassan City has become a Covid cluster with cases of three nursing universities since Thursday.
Except for a few, all infected students are women.
On Thursday, 21 students from Nersarga Nursing College were tested positive and 24 others came into contact with them.
Of this 24, the four were tested positive on Saturday, health officials were confirmed.
All 25 students come from the same college and live in PG accommodation.
After the plague, the authorities tested around 1,800 students from all 10 breastfeeding colleges in the city and more than 100 were found infected.
Of these, 90% came from Kerala and they arrived at Hassan before July 27, said an official.
On Friday, 37 students from the Nurse College Rajiv and 24 students from Rathna Nursing College in Hassan City were infected and they had been isolated.
Officials are worried because students go to restaurants and hotels in the past week.
“Students in all the hostels and guest houses that pay will be tested.
At first, students in college with more students will be tested from Monday”, said District Health Officer KM Sathish.
On Saturday, Hassan reported 129 new cases, which included students.
