Chamarajanagar (Karnataka): A 23-year-old man allegedly made himself and the woman he loved burned in the car after he rejected his marriage proposal, police said on Saturday.
According to police, Srinivas (23) and Kanchana (22) were found charred in a burning car outside the village of Mamballi near Chamarajanagar in Karnataka on Friday.
The murder case was registered at the Agara-Mamballi police station.
The police suspect that the car caught fire after gasoline was sprinkled inside, killing them both instantly instantly.
Both are classmates.
Kanchana worked as a nurse at a government hospital while Srinivas was a taxi driver.
He has proposed him several times but he refused at all times, police said.
On Friday, Srinivas offered to drop it in the village and took him into the car, they said, adding that he had tried suicide three months ago.
