Kolar: A three-month-old girl who was given a Pentavalent vaccine on Tuesday died in a mysterious state in the village of Bevahalli in Mulbagal Taluk on Wednesday.
While family members allegedly have a mixture of vaccines, the health authority attached to the Gudipalli PhC that drives the vaccine in Bevahalli said the baby might have died because of ‘aspiration’ after his mother breastfeeded in the middle of the night.
Aspiration is a place of foreign matter, food said, sucked into the air or lungs and often causes death with shortness of breath.
A Covid Vaccination camp was held at Bevahalli, about 110 km from Bengaluru and houses up to 800 households, on Tuesday and around 25 people were given Covaxin in the afternoon session.
Rani Rani, a senior nurse with PHC, said it would be better if eight children due to Pentavalen vaccination was also given a shot.
With the help of an Asha worker attached to the village, Rani asked the mothers to make their children involve it too.
The vaccination of children ends at night and the health department staff leave the village.
The three-month-old daughter of Anjali and Nagaraj are among children who are given the Pentavalent vaccine.
The baby kept crying until late at night and slept.
However, he woke up around midnight and his mother’s breasts feed the child and put it out.
Kin Harun stopped by, Doc said maybe because of aspiration, family members found dead babies in the morning.
This problem was taken to Dr Surendra’s notification, which was responsible for PHC in Gudipalli, who rushed to the village.
The villagers accused the baby may have died of a combination of vaccines.
However, after examining the baby, the doctor said death might be caused by aspiration.
Dr.
Surendra said the nurse who managed this vaccine had around 15 years of experience and could not have a mixture of vaccines as used bottles and the number of people attached to.
He said the baby might suffer aspiration after his mother was breastfeeding.
Babu, who has a school, said Health Officer Daluk Dr.
Varnashree visited the village in the morning and found everything about the vaccine sequentially.
The villagers are also satisfied with the authorities and this problem is placed to rest, said Babu.
