PANCHKULA: One of the rare positive effects of the pandemic: the district recorded an overall pass percentage of 100% in Class X in Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE).
But not many were pleased with this first of its kind decision that came following the orders of the state government.
“It will not help the students in their future.” “Various suggestions were given but passing all students based on internal assessment was chosen.” These were some of the reactions.
Many said other options could have been tried out.
“The government was requested to increase the centres of examination following Covid protocols or conduct exam through online mode,” teachers said.
Experts said the Class X overall result hardly crossed 65% pass percentage in Panchkula in the last many years.
Sources in the education department said passing all students without exams was an easy solution for the government.
“Its repercussions will be felt later.
It is not good at all for future of students.
Some other way should have been adopted,” said a retired district education officer (DEO).
The board declared results for 3,13,345 students of which 1,72,059 males and 1,41,286 female students.
A total of 11,278 students who had appeared for compartment exams were also declared passed.
