Jammu: To remember the courage of the Martyrs of Op Hill, the Indian Army set a warning ceremony at the Headquarters Brigade Bhimber Gali (BG) to pay tribute to martyrs who put their lives while defending Nation on November 2, 1965.
Pro Defense LT COL Devender Anand said, “The Battle of OP Hill is one of the best in the history of the Indian Army, waving determination, stubborn determination and fiery courage.” “Bhimber Gali Brigade pays a rich tribute to the spirit of Indian soldiers in a serious ceremony.” said col Anand.
He said, “Darshan Singh Dwar in honor of Rising Darshan Singh, Maha VIR Chakfa (Anumerta) was also inaugurated on that occasion.” “Senior military officers attended this occasion,” he said.
The Battle of Op Hill occurred after a ceasefire came into force on September 23, 1965.
OP Hill was a border observation post in the Bhimber Gali – Mendhar sector, 20 kilometers southwest of Poonch and Observation Post (OP) was being used by Pakistani soldiers to direct accurate fire artillery.
Assigned on July 28, 1948, to Sikh Regiment, Rising Darshan Singh was the main part of the commander in the Mendhar sector at J & K.
On November 2, 1965, Rising Darshan Singh was ordered to clear the bunker who was very maintained along with the regiment.
When leading his people on charges of the enemy, getting hurt by Singh continued to move forward and push his people to continue on the allegations.
Severe injuries, the brave heart ignored his wounds and brought themselves to the enemy bunker and threw a grenade into it.
With his encouragement, the people left from his part were charged and silenced the Pakistani enemy bunker.
In the process, all parts have become victims, but men have cleared the road for the success of their company in operation.
