Guwahati: Candidate AAM AADMI Party (AAP) in the Election of the City of Assam has been asked to sign the “written statement of loyalty”.
The State Committee of Assam AAP, at a press conference here on Monday, considering that major national parties allegedly tempting candidates, they have decided to replicate the model of the selection of Goa Assembly, where AAP candidates have signed a promising written statement to remain loyal to the party.
AAP will charge candidates in all 80 city boards, for which elections to be held on March 6, and have received applications of more than 150 candidates from all the lower, center and upon Assam.
“We don’t want one of our elected environmental members to leave the party after elections because the party always has a big role in any victory.
So, it has been decided that our candidate will sign a written statement of loyalty, which will legally bind them to the party,” Bhaben Choudhury said, the AAP state coordinator.
The party media coordinator for Assam, Jayanta Kumar Kalita, said their main threat was from Congress and BJP, which he said could try to tempt the AAP candidate to join their net image.
AAP will sign a legal agreement with candidates to make them commit that they will not cheat parties or voters.
If done, legal action will be made to them, “said Kalita.
Candidates are being filtered by the AAP observer team, who has rejected the application of several candidates who have knocked on the AAP door after failing to get tickets from other parties or have criminal records.
Aspires of tickets from Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Golaghat, Mariani, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Amguri, Rangiya, Destination, Lakhimpur and Dhubri have queued for tickets in the AAP office.
The final list is likely to be published in the next 24 hours.
“We are sure that our 150 candidates are strange, What will be derived from the same number of environments, has a clean picture to help AAP forward mission on education, health and development, “added Kalita.
Polling to 977 city wards will be held in March.
