Bengaluru: There seems to be more to spit out among the former Minister of HD Kumaraswamy from JD (s) and Mandya MP Independent Sumalatha Ambaresh rather than filling the eyes.
On the surface, they argue about the safety of the Krishnarajasagar Dam (KRS), which faces the risk of excavation of illegal stones, and the reopening of the Mysore sugar unit.
But the possibility they struggle to control the Mandya segment dominated by vocligions with long-term goals to set a stage for their son’s political careers.
Putra Kumaraswamy, Nikhil, lost to Sumalata in Mandya in the Election of Sabha 2019.
Kumaraswamy wanted to increase the JD position in the district so that Nikhil had a better shot in 2024, say political observers.
Sumaratha, they added, hoping for his relationship with his strong constituents and apartments, the strong appeal of AmbareSh would benefit their son, Abhishek.
Both Nikhil and Abhishek are actors who have some success in the film.
Politics is a clear goal for them.
Sumaratha told the Toi that Abhishek had political aspirations and wanted to continue his father’s inheritance at Mandya.
“I did not deny the prospect of Abhishek entered politics.
In fact, he was made for it because he had done his master in international politics.
He was young, so for now, he focused on acting in the film,” MP said.
Sumaratha has faced several criticisms because it is reported to be inaccessible and does not visit its electoral district regularly during a pandemic.
The fence on mining and illegal excavation, important local problems, can help him win back people.
He had received support after Kumaraswamy made a controversial comment on him.
He hinted that he would not be an independent candidate in the next Sabha selection and maybe go with Congress or BJP.
He will try to use the upcoming Zilla Panciran poll to strengthen his position as a district leader.
He said that he would start visiting all eight assembly segments at Mandya from next month.
“Clashes between Kumaraswamy and Sumaratha are being projected as a battle for a reason, but actually, it is an extension of the bitter selection battle witnessed in 2019.
Both of them are looking to get their swing back to their mandya,” KS said.
Sudheer Kumar, Mandya District President of Karnataka Rajya Sangha.
JS (s) won all eight assembly chairs in the district in 2018, but suffered a shock in the selection of Sabha next year.
Sumaratha, with Hening BJP support, managed to mobilize more support than Nikhil.
Even the congressional members secretly supported him.
Some JD functionaries believe that in the problem of the Dam KRS, the party missed the opportunity to challenge Sumalata’s claim as Kumarswamy’s personal attack on him shifted the focus of the discussion.
Recently, he claimed that the dam faced the risk of a gap because of the excavation of stones nearby.
The government and experts clarify that no such activity occurs within a radius of 10 km from the reservoir.
“Kumaraswamy desperately tried to defend his party fortress ahead of the next assembly poll and wanted to make sure Nikhil won in the contest of Lok Sabha 2024.
But he lost the plot by making unpleasant comments,” said Malavalli Shivanna, President of Forum Lohia Thinkers’.
Shivanna added that concern over illegal mining and the excavation of the original stone.
“Kumaraswamy seems to be nervous after Sumaratha becomes proactive and raised the problem last week.
He reacted sharply to make his party presence feel, but chose the wrong words,” Shivanna said.
Upset on controversy, Kumaraswamy has decided to remain silent for now.
“I have decided not to talk about this problem for some time.
And it’s too early to talk about Nikhil’s future plans,” he said.
