Bengaluru: All students who pursue higher education courses will be vaccinated in the next 10 days, Deputy Chief of CN Minister Ashwath Narayan said on Tuesday.
He heads the Covid-19 state task force and holds a higher education portfolio.
“It will include Polytechnic students, ITI, Degree, Engineering, Medical, Paramedics, Diploma and Diploma Medical and those listed under the scheme of the development of the skills of the Minister of Skills and studying on the university campuses,” he said.
He held a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.
Ashwath Narayan said that vaccination drives for higher education institutions began on June 28 and 94,000 students were affixed to the first day.
“The official concerned has been directed at vaccinating all students in this group in 10 days,” he explained.
He said that 60 doses of lakh vaccines were provided for the country in June and the supply would increase in the coming months.
“Until now, Karnataka stands one third in this country in the overall achievement in vaccination and other covid management parameters,” he added.
At the meeting, instructions were issued to improve the oxygen generation and storage at the end of August.
He said that the capacity of oxygen generators will be increased by 400MT.
“Storage capacity will increase by 2,500 to 2800mt.
It consists of 1,806MT in hospitals that work under the Ministry of Health and 500MT in medical college hospitals.
Each district hospital will have a minimum storage capacity of 20MT and 6mt Taluk Hospital.

The state government stated to increase the number of oxygenated beds from 58,000 to 84,000.
Private hospitals without oxygen storage facilities have been issued notifications and directed to make the settings needed in August-end.
The oxygen cylinder refill plant will be given financial assistance to doubling their capacity and filling facilities will be established in nine districts that do not have.
