Guwahati: A 45-year-old man has been arrested under the protection of children from sexual violations (Pocso) acting to “attack sexual” a nine-year-old girl in the Bada Assam District.
District falls under the territorial area of Bodoland.
“The victim’s family filed fir Sunday evening alleged that the man did sexual abuse on the girl on June 25.
The family member said even though the girl did not tell this problem to them, it was revealed when he fell ill.
The family provided fir without delay,” Dipen Kalita, an incharge officer from the Tamulpur police station, where FIR has been submitted, to Ti.
The health condition of the victim is stable now, he added.
The defendant, who works as a medical representative, has been ordered under the relevant section of the Criminal Code and ACT Pocso.
He was produced in front of the court on Monday and sent to prison.
The source said the girl went to fish with her cousin where she met the defendant and became a victim of sexual violence.
In the development of related, the 65-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday night to rape and kill a nine-year-old girl in the Morigaon District of Central Assam on June 20, has been sent to the five-day police custody by a court on Monday.
Victim clothing and biological specimens were sent for forensic examination after the body recovery in the field of burlap near Brahmaputra in this district.
Forensic report is awaited for further investigation, the Morigaon supervisor of Police Aparna n told the media.
